Live checks run on prepaid credit. A new account can run one live check before adding any, then adds credit to keep going. The sandbox never needs credit.

A failure is still a check
A result that does not pass took the same work to produce, so it is metered. A session somebody abandoned before any check reached a result is not. You are never billed for traffic that told you nothing.

Two checks are two charges
Liveness and the identity document check are priced and metered on their own, and appear as separate lines on the invoice. A session that runs both is billed for both. A session that runs one is billed for one.

Retries never double charge
Each check is recorded against its session exactly once. If our own systems retry, or two servers finish the same session at the same moment, the second record is discarded rather than billed.
Free to build against
The sandbox is never metered
Test keys run the whole flow, force a pass or a fail without a camera, and cost nothing. Charging you to integrate properly would be a strange way to ask you to integrate properly.
At volume, the price is a conversation.
There is no second product behind a sales call. The checks, the API and the widget are the same ones on this page. What changes is commercial: what each check costs you, and how your account is allowed to behave.

Questions worth answering before you sign up.
Do I need credit before I run live checks?
Yes, after the first one. Live checks draw on prepaid credit on your account. A new account can run one live check with no credit at all, so your first real call works rather than failing, and new live sessions are then refused until you add credit. The smallest top-up is $5, and it stays on your account as credit, not as a fee. Test keys never need credit, and accounts on agreed invoicing terms are not affected.
How is usage calculated?
Per completed check, not per frame and not per attempt. Liveness and the document check are two separate products at two separate prices, so a session that runs both is metered twice: $1.25 and $1.50, $2.75 in total. Sandbox traffic on a test key is never metered.
Is there a minimum commitment?
No. There is no setup fee, no monthly minimum and no contract. Credit goes on in top-ups from $5 and stays on your account until checks use it, so the smallest top-up is money you still have, not a charge. Accounts also run without a monthly ceiling unless you ask for one, so a busy week is not a blocked week.
How and when am I billed?
An invoice is issued per billing period, covering the checks metered in it, and any credit on your account is applied to it. The payment options available to your account are shown at checkout. If you need a specific arrangement, ask before you sign up.
